There should be no need. The referees in the VAR room should be competent to see that's a red in a split second.

We saw in the the World Club Cup final that the monitor isn't this saving grace. It led to the ref making a worse decision there than he had made with no replays.

It's for missed calls or extra information that may have been missed. If Oliver just goes over to watch the replay he might well overturn it, it's understandable that he'd have missed it in real time.

If it's used like that, like it has been elsewhere, you reduce the number of these errors, which is VAR's goal.

A, he could just not put his foot down, he had fairly good balance, but he clear as fuck stamped down, he lifted his leg and slammed it down. Sometimes you do step on players, sometimes there isn't anywhere to go and sometimes it can hurt/injure, but he was barely moving, wasn't off the floor, wasn't at full pace and about to fall over hard if he didn't put his leg down, he fucking stamped that down hard.
